* Buttons Tell A Story

To me, buttons tell some ones story & I like to hear hear it.

I love anything monogrammed & I discovered these Mother /Daughter ones w/ the initial “W” on them. (1 large & 1 small button are called mother daughter. If there was a 3rd size, they would be grandmother/ mother/ daughter buttons)

They will soon adorn my chunky, clunky gold button bracelet. The collection of firefighting buttons was given to me by good friend Kay who has been collecting them for me. (I’m married to a fireman.) I plan to pair them with red & black buttons and maybe a few crystals.

These military buttons & pins came from a soldier in 1918. Holding them feels like a privilege. I can’t help but wonder how old the soldier was & where he was from.

I love the feel of these Czech glass buttons. The story of Czech buttons is fascinating. A tradtion passed down thru the generations. The glass is lovely & fragile as you can see by the hairline crack under the peacock. Happy button hunting. Leah

About Ruby Mae Jewelry

I'm Leah Williams and I adore fabulous buttons and brooches, chains and charms. I find it exciting to look into old tin cans passed down through the generations. They hold buttons and hardware removed from all types of garments. I reuse old buttons and it connects me to men and women that I'll never get to meet. I leave the original thread on a button. I'm inspired to create something new from something that was forgotten. I love, love, love it.
