* Women Supporting Women

God bless women & their supportive nature. I’m continually blessed & impressed by the support & encouragement I receive from women & fellow artists, some I know & some I don’t.
I’ve found myself asking complete strangers a thing or two regarding their own business ventures and almost always is the case, they share what they can.
I’m now on the other side of it & have found myself to be the one asked for a piece of advice here or there. That’s fun.
Last Sunday, a world class stained glass artist named  Christine Charter Moorhead not only answered my questions about having a booth at the Mill Avenue Festival ( I’ve always wanted to work that event) but she introduced me to her friend, a jewelry artist named Katie Enewold who was very giving with her advice as well. Christine then gave me a valuable piece of button artwork, squeezed me tight w/ a big ol’ hug & then encouraged me to go for it & stay in touch. What very kind & encouraging women.

Thursday night I popped into JAM during Miller Market to drop off new items & folks were gathered in the kitchen sharing & enjoying a feast Urban Table chefs Traci & RJ had prepared. I could smell it at the front door. It was veggie chili & bread, a gorgeous salad & an exotic bread pudding. So inviting & so de-lish.

JAM owner Shauna asked if I could make jewelry for a wine bottle (for the Williams & Sonoma event she was attending the next day.) I reassembled items I just brought in & voila, Wine Bottle Bling was created. Sweet. I might start selling them.

For me, being around fellow artists of all types has changed my life for the better. If you’re the artsy type too, I highly recommend finding others like you to be around. It’ll make you smile.

About Ruby Mae Jewelry

I'm Leah Williams and I adore fabulous buttons and brooches, chains and charms. I find it exciting to look into old tin cans passed down through the generations. They hold buttons and hardware removed from all types of garments. I reuse old buttons and it connects me to men and women that I'll never get to meet. I leave the original thread on a button. I'm inspired to create something new from something that was forgotten. I love, love, love it.
