* Leaning On My Dad Jake

Having this business I've learned to accept help when it's offered to me. It's time I mention my Dad and the help he is giving me with Ruby Mae. He calls me "Darlin" and still uses words like  "britches".

His name is Roger but he's known as Jake. He's the strong, quiet type who is an analytical thinker & builds the tool he needs for a project.  He might spend half a day building such tool, usually from bits of this and that he's gathered from catch all drawers and garage cabinets.

When Scott & I got married in 1989, I wanted  fabric roses to hand out to all our guests. Dad built a machine to twist the fabric into rose petals and eventually a rose bud and then attached it to a stem.

In the YouTube video, "How Patty &  Jake Published A Book", you can see him with the homemade press he built to bind the book they co wrote together.

This past week, I was in need of his help. We sat together to work on an order together. He was helping me complete a custom bracelet that had 16 little people charms. He hung them a different direction then I would have but his method was right. It worked and it looked good. I'm smart enough to know that there is more then one way to hang a charm on a chain.

After working with the chain and charm he determined I needed a jewelry board to keep my bracelet frrom moving during assembly. So, yesterday he spent half a day designing and building my board.

I love it and I love him for making it for me.
