Tin Can Treasures

There are so many tin can treasures out there. Sometimes they are cookie tins or mason jars or whipped topping tubs. I'm not quite sure what the two large ones previously were. The past 10 months I've seen so many of them and I can't believe I've made the mistake of not photographing them. It's a live & learn moment for me. From now on I'm capturing their personalities and snapping a pic of what I see when I open them for the first time.

For those who haven't seen these tins before, it's a what the much older generation kept all their buttons, sewing notions & odds & ends in. Some families pass down their button tins from generation to generation. This week when a client named Denise brough these two oversized, vintage tins to our meeting, all I could think was, wow, they are so beautiful & in great shape. Also very large, I rarely have seen them this size. Lucky Denise. Those relatives had great taste. Suprisingly I'm unsure what my mom's button tin looks like. Or, if she had one. I'm guessing she did & it also has bits of needlpoint & crochet remnants too. Someday when we are ready, we'll find it & peek inside. I'll be sure to take a picture of it.

I'd love to see & share your family button tin. Email me a picture & I"ll post it to this blog. Let's get a gallery going for others to enjoy.Be sure to include the names of those family members who contributed to it & I will name the button tin after them.

Michael gave me his mom Ellen's buttons, with her permission of course.

Ellen lives near Georgia & the buttons are over 50 years old. I enjoy the whipped topping tub too.
